I love sauerkraut! If you need a quick fix for sauerkraut, this is the recipe you need to make. Easy and delish! I would not change a thing. I cooked it for 40 minutes and then turned the oven off. I used a 9x13 pan. Thanks, Dancer

Dancer, Thanks for the wonderful recipe. My DH and Mom loved it! Instead of mashed potatoes, we had pieroges (yummy!) I baked @ 325 degrees for about 40 minutes and it was perfect!!!

Great recipe, quick and easy. It had a really good flavor. I halved the recipe to serve 2 people. I did not find it necessary to cook for an hour at 325 using the smoked keilbasa. I turned it down to 200 after the first 20 minutes, and it turned out fine.

Excellent and timely recipe! I served it with Latkes(potato pancakes), and saurkraut, and it hit the spot!

Wonderful sausage and sauerkraut dish! I will have to make this often as DH raved about it. I used a lean ham kielbasa and reduced the sugar by half. Thank you for posting, Dancer^

This is pretty good and easy to make. The only thing I'd change would be to cook my sauerkraut before adding it in future. I usually add a few juniper berries, a few peppercorns and a bay leave to the pan and simmer my sauerkraut for half an hour for some extra flavour. I followed your suggestion and served it with glazed carrots and mashed potatoes. the only thing I changed was that I spread the mash over the top layer of the casserole and removed the lid after 30 minutes so the top of the potatoes could brown nicely. Thanks for sharing. It's a keeper.

Very Good, obviously very simple. I used kielbasa which has enough grease that you don't need to add extra to your skillet. My Hubby and I like sauerkraut sour, so I left out the sugar.

About sauerkraut... select kraut packed inplastic bags or glass jars. If packed in uncoated cans it can have a tinny taste. AND soak it. Change the water no less than three times. I lived in Alsace and that is what we did at the restaurant.

You can add quartered potatoes into the casserole and it's a one-pot meal.
