what could be bad? I added raisins, peanut M&Ms and honeycomb cerial (had them in the pantry) left out the chips. Kids and I loved it. It made a great car trip snack.
Awesome recipe! At first the kids turned up their noses at the thought of cranberries and nuts but we pushed on. They had a blast making it. They actually ate the cranberries and nuts and loved it. They polished off the whole batch and asked to make more. Thank you!
Took this with us camping and the kids really enjoyed it. Used honey nut cheerios, regular m&m's, plain goldfish, peanut butter chips, cherry craisins, mini pretzel twists and omitted the nuts.
We took this recipe on our vacation for munchies in the middle of the day. Perfect, I loved the combo of flavors and the ease of preparation. Thank you for posting.
Forgot to rate this! Made a big batch of this for dd's lunches. It's a hit! We love the salty/sweek combination. I pack her lunch and throw a handful in a baggie and we are off. DD thinks she's getting a decandent dessert and I know she's getting something healthier.
I have made this recipe for the last 2 4th of July parties. Am planning on making it this year. It is wonderful - pleasing to kids and adults. The kids love it because I set out plastic cups and they scoop and go. They can snack on it all day long and not consume a bunch of other junk! I always make extra because we like it so much! You can't go wrong with this snack
Next time I will double (at least) the amount of Cheerios, cheese crackers and pretzels. As written it was too sweet and candy filled for an everyday snack. It was a big hit!
Is this ever good! DD made this for snack-time at school during standardized testing, and it was a big hit among the teenagers. The only exception she made was to use regular craisins instead of flavored. Since then, we've made many versions of this for snacking at home. We just open up boxes and bags and start mixing! Thanks for the great recipe and for springboarding our creativity!
Just a note on allergies. My daugher has a peanut allergy and she can't have M& M's or many other snack foods b/c they are processed in a plant w/peanuts and may contain traces. Be careful when taking to a preschool as mentioned the allergies are life threatening.
This is a great recipe! I made it to take to my son's preschool and they all loved it. I enjoyed it, too. I don't usually eat trail mix as a... whole, I guess you would say. I pick out the ingredients one at a time and with this I didn't. Really great, kid-friendly recipe. Thanks for sharing! I'm sure I will be using it again.
