When growing up my Gram used to make these grilled cheeses for us. She would send us down to the local Italian bakery to get fresh hearth baked bread. Today I use fat free bologna, low fat cheeses and instead of butter I use butter flavored pan spray and plain white reduced calorie bread.
- 2 slices bread
- 2 slices light bologna
- 1 slice provolone cheese
- 4 fresh basil leaves
- 1⁄2 roasted red pepper
- Put sandwich together, spray with buttered flavored pan spray.
- Grill till cheese melts.
I love this! My only change was to quickly cook the bologna until slightly browned, then make the sandwich. Very good!
I discovered I didn't have anymore bologna, but since it was in the morning I used bacon! The provolone and roasted red pepper were very tastey on the sandwich. Made for football tag! Congratulations on your win.
Well this was a surprise. Loved the Roasted red pepper. I think next time I'll brown the bologna like the other reviewer. I went ahead and put 2 slices of provolone on, which I really liked. Thanks for giving a new twist to a bologna sandwich. Congrats on your Week #9 win in Football Pool
