This recipe was pretty much spot on!!! I did tweak it just a bit to suit our tastes. I used fresh potatoes and carrots, diced and boiled them together in chicken broth. I cooked them until semi tender. I used fresh chicken tenders, cut into small chunks. I put about 2-3 tablespoons olive oil in my skillet, added chicken, onion, 1/2 stalk celery diced, garlic salt & seasoned salt. Cooked on medium heat until chicken was throughly cooked. I used 2 tubes of crescent rolls as my crust. One for the top and one for the bottom. While my bottom crust was browning, I mixed all ingredients together in the skillet, I added some frozen peas the soup and water. I then added the final touch, about 3 tablespoons butter!!! That was the final touch that sealed the deal!!! It was KFC only made at home!!! After my bottom crust cooled for a while, I poured the mix on, put the remaining roll of crescent rolls on top of the mixture. I then cup up small chunks of butter and laid on top. Moved my oven rack up one level so the bottom crust wouldn't over brown. It turned out perfect!!! My husband ate 2 bowls!!! Nuff said!!! Rounded out the meal with homemade mashed potatoes and hot buttery biscuits!!!
I made this last Sunday. Don't use the biscuit recipe though, use Pillsbury pie crusts. You can buy them in a box of two from your local grocery store. I didn't know if it would taste okay at first, but once it was baked it tasted EXACTLY the same as the crusts at KFC. It's truly delicious.
Quite pleased with the Pot Pie, good taste, creamy sauce, veggies were just rigtht, chicken plentiful but they should be careful so as to remove any small bones, this can be a turnoff, it wasn't for me because I was pleased with the taste and the size of the single bone did make it standout before I put the piece of chicken in my mouth. Crust was out of this world, 5 star.
I made it exactly as show.We were very disappointed. It had a very artificial and processed taste.I think it was the bisqick,I would suggest using your own crust.
This was so great and easy, too. I left out the potatoes and MSG and used my own biscuit recipe for the crust. Everyone loved it and thought it was my home-made pot pie, which I just didn't have time for. I couldn't believe how close in taste this was with less than half the work! Thanks much :)
Excellent, very close. I used the ceam soup substitute #14860 since I didnt have any canned and also used the unboiled chicken Un-Boiled Chicken to prepare the chicken. It made a wonderful comfort food.
