Thanks for sharing this recipe. I have made this twice and the only thing I changed was I made it into a layer cake with Key Lime Curd as a filling in between the layers. I used 9 inch round cake pans and baked for 28 min. Thanks again! It was a huge hit!
This recipe is awesome. As a baker, I alter the recipe a little bit to get a more fluffy and moist cake. I sifted the cake mix and the jello, to give a more airy consistency. The first thing I did was placing the eggs in the mixing bowl of my electric mixer and beat them at high speed for about 2 minutes. Then I add the rest of the ingredients and mixed for 3 minutes at low speed. I took it to the oven at 325 for 45 minutes. I got a very spongee and moist cake, that everybody enjoyed a lot.
Am going to call this the Kiss Me cake, because it makes you pucker up like you were going to kiss someone. I too make rounds, then split each one, l lined each layer with lime curd and frosted the outside of the cake, it was a big hit. Next time put the lime curd inside the split layers, then frost the middle and the outside.
How refreshing is this cake. We loved this cake, the tart cake combined with the sweet creamy frosting is divine. We made this for St. Patty's Day dessert. Thank you for sharing with us, it really is a great cake.
Made this for my hubby's 28th birthday upon request....never made a key lime cake before and this turned our perfect, followed the directions exactly. He loved it =] Thanks for the great recipe.
I made this for two group gatherings and it was a big hit! The cake came out perfect. The alterations for the recipe- I used half of the lime gelatin than the recipe called for & whisked the eggs separate for two minutes before adding the rest of the ingredients. The frosting from scratch did more than compliment the key lime flavor, I'll be making this cake again soon enough.
I made this cake from my friends birthday since we both share a love of key lime pie. I turned out terrific! I had just the right combination of sweet and tangy. I would recommend this cake to anyone who also enjoys key lime pie!
This cake is super moist and delicious! I made it into cupcake balls, and they were equally as good!
I made this for my brothers birthday. Didn't want store bought B-day cake and my family loves key lime anything. I followed directions exactly. My mom wrote Happy Birthday with green icing and decorated the edges then served it with rainbow sherbet...YUMMM... Everyone loved it. Thanks for a great recipe, I will be making it again for the next family celebration (by request!!!).
I HATE Key Lime pie but this cake was GREAT!!! Everyone loved it!
