While there are a couple of other Kentucky Derby Pies on this site, there wasn't one exactly like the one I grew up eating. And when something is as perfect as this pie, you want the exact recipe. Trust me.
Cream the butter and sugars with an electric mixer. Add the vanilla, eggs and flour and mix well. Stir in chocolate chips and pecans, and pour into an unbaked pie crust.

Bake for 45 and bask in the compliments. No one will ever guess how easy that was!
Clear five stars - I can't compare because I never had Kentucky pie before, but this one was extremely addictive! I used a gluten free pie crust and used erythritol instead of the granulated sugar to have less sugar. For the flour I used a mix of 1/3 arrowroot starch and 2/3 white rice flour, and it worked like a charm. As there was no direction about the choc chips, I used 85 percent chocolate, and it turned out soooo goood!!! You're right, you'd never guess how easy this fantastic pie is! Thanks for posting. Made for PAC Spring 2011.
