Recipe is from the Best Eastern Dostyk hotel in Almaty, Kazakhstan. From my grandmother's recipe box and dates from the '60's.


  1. Bring water to a boil in a large pot.
  2. Add rest of ingredients. Simmer for 20-30 min until water is absorbed.
  3. Use fork to fluff rice and serve.
