Katie gave us this recipe and we like it better than Tollhouse.
- 1⁄3 cup soft shortening
- 1⁄3 cup butter
- 1⁄2 cup sugar
- 1⁄2 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1⁄2 cups flour
- 1⁄2 teaspoon baking soda
- 6 ounces chocolate chips
- Mix shortening, butter, sugars, egg and vanilla.
- Sift dry ingredients together and stir in.
- Mix in chocolate chips.
- Drop rounded teaspoons 2" apart.
- Bake 8-10 minutes at 375 degrees.
I was trying go figure out what was off with these cookies after I had made them and then realized there is no salt in the recipe. Once I corrected that, they were very good.
My daughter and I left out the shortening and add in some rice crispies. Very good. They're still cooling in the kitchen, but we couldn't resist trying one.
Wow...thanks Kevin for sharing...these are wonderful cookies. I used a combination of semi sweet and milk chocolate chips. My DH just loved these...will definitely make again.
