WOW, that definitely gave me a kick-start after a short night! What a delightful blast of caffein - the taste of this coffee was wonderful, maybe due to the slightly roasted cardamom pods. I used an organic Arabica coffee because that was what I had on hand, and sweetened it a bit. Like the others, I made only 1/4 of the recipe and enjoyed it during the day. I'll make this again often, thanks for sharing!<br/>Made for Let's Go to Saudi Arabia / N*A*M*E forum June 2013
After reading the review by Mirj I too made 1/4 recipe as I'm the only one here who enjoys flavorful additives in coffee. For myself, I found the pods gave plenty of flavor and didn't add any ground cardamom. This was greatly enjoyed this morning and is something that I will make again :D
Boy, did this wake me up this morning! Here in Israel I can buy Turkish ground coffee with cardamom already mixed in, right in the supermarket. But I always have cardamom pods in the house, so I decided to try the homemade version myself. I only made a quarter of the recipe as I'm really the only one in the house who drinks coffee. I ground the coffee beans (a local blend, very strong) and went at the pods with my mortar and pestle. The smell of the cardamom roasting in the pan was heavenly! I had a cup of this first thing in the morning, very sweet as is the local custom here. The rest I took to the office to keep me going throughout the day. Thanks for the experience, Fifi, and Ramadan kareem!
