I have never been to Lambert's but I know lots of people who have and one thing they always rave about are the throwed rolls. So I tried this recipe and found it one of the easiest bread recipes I have ever attempted (and I'm not usually very lucky when it comes to making bread). The rolls were delicious. I can't say if they taste like Lambert's but after having these I don't think I care to stand in line for an hour to get theirs.
These do taste like Lamberts! I tried the recipe twice. The first time, the tops turned out fine, but the part in the muffin cup got over-done. The second time I just made them into large balls and baked in a glass baking dish, much better results than in the muffin cups. Very good yeasty flavor!
These were wonderful rolls! I've never been able to form Parker House rolls before and these give THE look! I used 3 1/2 cups flour. I've made these twice and preferred the crusty texture of bread flour. My mom was visiting and she's been to Lambert's and said they were just as good! Thanks KC, for posting. Roxygirl
These are EXACTLY like the throwed rolls at Lambert's Cafe in Foley, AL. Best dinner rolls I've ever eaten. Be sure not to bake them too long, or the tops will get hard.
Delicious! We all loved them! I made the dough in my bread machine using 1 1/4 cups warm milk instead of the milk and water called for. I also used bread flour instead of all-purpose. They were huge, tender, and just crisp (not hard) on the outside. Thanks for posting, KC Cooker!
Our new favorite! Easy to mix together and the dough kneads beautifully. Thanks for sharing an awesome recipe!
Wowie - what a hit these were. They rose better than any roll that I have ever made. I sized teh recipe to make 4 dozen and they were gone in a flash! Made them again - hide them - and they were great out of the freezer. Then used the leftovers toasted for breakfast. Yum. Thanks KC Cooker!!
Very nice rolls. Thanks for the wonderul recipe!
WOW these are so good. These just melt in your mouth. I used my bread machine on dough cycle and baked. Thanks for such a wonderful recipe. MaryL
