COOKIES
- 118.29 ml shortening
- 236.59 ml brown sugar (packed)
- 118.29 ml granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 236.59 ml sour cream
- 4.92 ml vanilla extract
- 650.62 ml flour (sifted)
- 4.92 ml salt
- 2.46 ml baking soda
- 236.59 ml walnuts (chopped, Opitional) or 236.59 ml pecans (chopped, Opitional)

GLAZE
- 59.14 ml butter
- 236.59 ml powdered sugar (sifted)
- 2.46 ml vanilla
- 14.79-29.58 ml hot water
directions
- For Cookies: Preheat oven to 375º. Mix shortening, sugar, and eggs thoroughly. Blend in sour cream and vanilla. Combine flour, salt, and baking soda in a separate bowl, then add to the mixture. Mix thouroughly and chill dough if too soft to handle. Drop rounded teaspoons full of dough onto a greased cookie sheet approximately 2 inches apart. Bake for 10 minutes or until there are no more imprints in the dough.
- For Glaze: Melt butter until golden brown, remove from heat. Mix in powdered sugar and vanilla. Add hot water to obtain glaze consistency; glaze should spread/flow smoothly on cookies(Should not be as thick as for icing). Glaze cookies.

This is a great recipe. I was going to add it myself until I found yours :) I make them at Christmas too! I add green or red food coloring to the frosting to make them more festive. I also use 1 and 1/2 cups of brown sugar and no granulated sugar and add close to a tablespoon of vanilla as long as a bit of cinnamon. Nice moist cookie. Love it!
