A recipe from Linda Collister's "Chocolate" This is the perfect libation for a cold early winter's night. John Nott, a pastry chef, created this drink in 1726. "It sounds odd but tastes delicious."


  1. Put all the ingredients into a heavy saucepan and heat well.
  2. Bring to a boil, beating constantly.
  3. Then serve in 4 cups of mugs, that have been warmed.
