I was so excited to try this recipe! I used a boxed Betty Crocker brownie mix because easy and they always come out perfect! I was sad Trader Joe's was out of peppermint Joe Joe's, we bought a box a couple weeks ago and loved them but they said sell out fast. I used mint Oreo's which has a light green filling. I sprinkled crushed candy cane on top, how ever you couldn't see much of it at the end. It was there when I checked the brownies but after I reset the timer for 5 more min they all sank into the brownie- I was bummed so not many pretty red pieces on mine. However now that I see a few of the candy cane pieces it looks a little funny melted so I might like better not adding? Maybe I should sprinkle very crushed pieces on top after cooked? The Oreos crushed on top didn't look pretty and were soft Not a crunchy topping so I think next time I wont crush them for the top so it looks prettier, but maybe I didn't like the look of mine because mine were light green filling. Anyway they taste wonderful and that's what counts. I really enjoyed them cold out of the fridge more then served at room temp. Thanks for the fun idea I will make again next Christmas!

I am going to wait until I make this again to add my stars. I had bought my mint cookies after the hoidays when they were on sale. I had started to make these browinie and set my "helper" DD on the task of breaking up the cookies while I was making the batter. She used the regular oreos by mistake so I upped the mint extract to 1/2 teaspoon. I though they were ok this way, but not as minty as I would have liked. The kids loved them and DH gave them 4 out of 5. I guess I will have to wait until holiday time to try to make these again, as no one has these cookies anymore. But I am looking forward to it and I will add our star rating to the review at that time.

I cheated and used the boxed mix version of these brownies, but they turned out fabulously! I made them to send to school for my daughter's teachers. I loved how they looked so pretty and festive. I baked the brownies according to the directions on the box. Had to bake a few minutes longer, but otherwise didn't make any changes. Used chopped up mint oreos and crushed candy cane. YUM!

These were so nice and chewy and the peppermint flavor took it over the top! I followed Nora's suggestion and used a brownie mix and it still came out great. I wish I could give these more stars. Thanks, Donna

Well, the peppermint cookies were an adventure to find, seeing the time of the season. Luckily I knew a vendor, that works at the Jewel warehouse 20 minutes from here and he got me a package. Now as for the recipe, I excluded the candy cane, and the salt. They were fantastic cookies that will be made again.. near Christmas time here. Made for 1-2-3 hit wonders.

This recipe made a very good brownie, which was fudgy, moist and minty! I did add 1/2 tsp baking soda and since I ended up picking up the wrong chocolate (I used semi-sweet) I had to lower the sugar amount by half. Turned out great just the same. Made for photo tag. Thanks for sharing!

for a cheater version, use a box mix of brownies, and add the crushed mint oreos with a sprinkle of crushed candy cane.. YUM
