Simple and refreshing

Top Review by Jostlori

Very nice - a keeper! I thought the ginger and mint would overpower the gin, but that wasn't the case. I did add a bit more yuzu to cut the sweetness, and it was tart and refreshing! Even DH begrudgingly said he liked this "chick drink". LOL. Made for Culinary Quest 2015 by a Toasted Tourist.

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 6 ounces gin or 6 ounces vodka
  • 1 yuzu fruit, juice Anjou pear
  • 2 tablespoons ginger-mint simple syrup (recipe follows)
  • 12 cup honey (or sugar)
  • Ginger Mint Simple Syrup

  • 12 cup water
  • 14 cup roughly chopped mint leaf
  • 1 inch piece ginger, chopped

  1. Combine gin, yuzu juice and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker. Shake shake shake…shake shake shake…shake (Pour into a glass filled with ice, garnish with thinly sliced ginger root and mint leaves.
  2. Combine all ingredients in a small, heavy saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly for 3 minutes to dissolve honey in the water. Continue cooking over medium heat for another 5 minutes or until a syrup-like texture is achieved. Pour the syrup into a small glass bowl and allow to cool slightly before use.
  3. when using a cocktail shaker it is helpful to use the syrup while it is still slightly warm, stirring it with the cocktail ingredients to ensure it is well combined before adding ice.).
