Jamaican Me Hungry Burger! (Turkey Jerk Burger W/ Grilled Pineap

"My hubby is the Grill Master so he was talking about wanting to make a "different" kind of burger. We put our heads together and came up with this little gem. It was one of the best burgers that I've ever had! There's a little bit of spice and a little bit of sweet. It wasn't the juiciest, but when you put everything together, it is guaranteed not to disappoint!"

directions

  • Heat grill (we use a gas grill) to Low/Medium.
  • Mix ground turkey and jerk seasoning until combined, but don't mix too much or it will damage the meat, causing it to get tough.
  • Form into (4) 3/4 inch thick patties. (You can cover and refrigerate for an hour to blend the flavors better or move onto the next step).
  • Add burgers to bottom rack on grill.
  • Add pineapples to bottom rack on grill. Brush with teriyaki sauce and flip so teriyaki sauce is face down.
  • Cook for 6-7 minutes and flip burgers. DO NOT press down with the spatula or it will squeeze out juices.
  • After you flip the burgers, brush the pineapple (the "naked" side) with teriyaki sauce and flip.
  • Cook for another 6-7 minutes.
  • After 5 minutes, add the cheddar cheese and bacon.
  • Also, in the last 2 minutes of cooking, spray the inside of the buns with cooking spray and add them to the grill to toast them, taking care to watch and make sure that they don't burn.
  • After the cooking time is up, remove the buns from the grill.
  • Remove the burger from the grill and place on the buns. Top with grilled pineapples.
  • Top with romaine and ranch dressing to serve.

The most defining trait in my life is that I am a mother to two wonderful boys (Tyler, 20 and Zayden, 9). I live in the little college town of Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania. It is the most wonderful place to live as it's nestled in the Appalachian Mountains and along the beautiful Susquehanna River. Seeing that we live in Central Pennsylvania, our family is also a bunch of HARDCORE Penn State Nittany Lion fans! We are...PENN STATE! I was lucky enough to be given tickets to see Joe Paterno win his 400th game as the head coach of the football team. I cried like I did when my children were born. The other love of my life is cooking. I didn't really start trying to cook until I was 20, but believe me I have made up for lost time! I absolutely adore baking and I do it whenever I can. I love making Christmas cookies and I have begun hosting our extended families at our home for Thanksgiving and Easter dinners. So far so good. I love food.com because it allows me to expand my culinary skills and my recipe box with ideas from other people like me. There is something for everyone and I have been a loyal member since 2005. I hope you enjoy my recipes and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
