  1. In a bowl combine the cornmeal,flour,sugar,baking powder and salt.
  2. Combine the egg,milk,onion and jalapeno pepper,stir into dry ingredients just until moistened.
  3. Heat oif for deep frying to 375 degrees.
  4. Drop batter by tablespoons into oil.
  5. Fry for 2 minutes or until golden brown,turning occasionally.
  6. Drain on paper towels.
