Jack Daniels BBQ Sauce

"A fantastic BBQ Sauce. Use Jack Daniels (but any Whiskey will do!) Leftover sauce freezes well."

  • In a medium saucepan, combine onion, garlic and whiskey. Simmer over medium heat for about 7 minutes or until onion is translucent.
  • Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Puree in food processor or blender.
  • Refrigerate for at least 1 day to blend flavours.

  1. Finger lickin' good! I didn't have any JD, so I borrowed some from a neighbor. Made a double batch and sent some over as a thank you for the JD. She bought another bottle and asked me to make more! I like my sauce with a kick, so I did add some cayenne. Other than that, this is a keeper.
     
  2. I tried this recipe on a whim and now I don't buy store bought anymore. I always double the recipe so I have plenty on hand.
     
  3. This BBQ sauce is wonderful. It is nice and thick. Costs a bit more than store bought but I can make this recipe HFCS free. Thanks
     
  4. I love it. Most of the other recipes I'd tried before were just to thin. I left out the brown sugar and added 1 tsp Tabasco sauce, 1/2 green bell, diced, and some cayenne pepper. I like it spicy :). Do this in a well seasoned cast iron skillet for even more flavor, plus it adds a good hint of it on whatever you cook next in it. I took a bottle of the this to a family get together an they were asking for some to take home.
     
  5. By far one of the best barbeque sauces I have every made. It got rave reviews at my last barbeque. The whole family wants me to make them a bottle.

My secret indulgence? Grocery Shopping. I can literally spend hours roaming up and down the aisles of a Supermarket. Sound crazy? Not if you're a self described "Foodie" like me.
