Oh my gosh, I loved this, altho funnily enough, DH was less enthusiastic, he found it a bit thick. Well, it is a chowder! I think he is not so used to chowders. I was generous with the veggies, and apart from not having celery, stuck to the recipe. Served with crusty french bread. I thought it was fabulous! Oh, looking at my photo reminds me that I had to use chickpeas... been busy using my pantry supplies and didn't realise I hadn't re-stocked on beans. Chickpeas were good though!!! Thank you ellie_! Made for PMMR tag game.

wow, this was good! I used beef broth also in place of water. And it was even better the next day as leftovers. I simply added a little more water with beef bouillion, a little more onion, and a little bit of corn. Great stuff! I originally used a can of black beans and a can of pintos. I added a can of great northern beans to the leftover chowder. It was like a brand new dish! Thanks a lot for posting this recipe.

I was surprised to find it really good. I used a can of beef broth instead of the water. I'll make this one again!

Very nice! I would like a bit more flavor, so I will experiment with spicing it, however it is truly good the way it is. Very comforting.

I loved this. It is my kind of meal. I used polish sausage crumbled and 1 can black beans and 1 can northern beans. Not all my family loves this kind of thing but it will be a favorite of mine to take to lunch this fall!

This recipe produced a very filling delicious soup. Based on Barb's review, I used 1 can of kidney beans and 1 can of black beans. I also used Rita's suggestion of adding minced garlic. I used a local smoked sausage which gave the soup a wonderful flavor. The recipe made more than enough to feed the five of us with some left over that I'll take to work next week for lunch. I served this with Mexican Corn Muffins #104985. Since it's so hot here in the south, we cooled down after eating the soup with Mirj's Strawberry Cheesecake in a Glass #13980. Totally outstanding meal! Thanks for sharing this recipe.

I cut the recipe in half. I added 2 cloves of garlic. I didn't have onion so I used 2 tablespoon onion soup and seasoning mix. So I also skipped the bouillon cubes. I used Andouille chicken sausage which I added in the beginning along with the veggies to get it browned. Thanks for posting this warming, good, thick, & flavorful chowder.

This is a very delicious Soup. I used 1 can of black beans and 1 can of kidney beans as I only had one can of kidney beans. I really belive that you could use any kind of beans and it would be a great soup. Other than the beans I made it just like the recipe said, served it with Blink's Mom's Tex Mex Cornbread Muffins for her MoM's Tex Mex Cornbread Muffins, made a delicious dinner. Thank you Ellie, for another delicious recipe.
