A nice hearty soup that pairs well with homemade crusty bread. I found the soup needed more spices for our tastes. I tried it about half way through and decided to add celery leaves and bay leaf. I think next time I would add carrots and maybe a wee bit of corn too. You really could add just about any veggie you like to this one. I also sauteed the onion and sausage ahead of time so that I could drain excess fat. I will definitely make this again. Made for Spring PAC 2009. Thx for the recipe!
Great soup!! I used a 15 oz can of tomatoes and made 14 oz of chicken broth. I also added a bay leaf. For the toppings, I had parmesan and next time might try an italian blend cheese. :) Thanks, unmistakable1, for a wonderful comfort food!
Really nice flavour! I chose the crockpot method. I think if the potatoes were omitted this soup could be thickened for a nice pasta sauce.
My husband loved this recipe! I used a 14 1/2 oz can diced Italian seasoned tomatoes, veggie broth & added seasonings like Italian seasoning, salt, pepper & more garlic powder. I only used 1 potato (about 1 1/2 cups). I made this on the stove top & I covered the saucepan for about 20 min to cook the potatoes. I also used a 13 oz pkg of smoked Jenni-O turkey sausage. Thanks so much for sharing this recipe; he said to keep it for sure!
Hearty and easy. Just what I needed!
Hearty soup that we ate with a fork !! I used Italian pork sausages as we don't have turkey ones here, also added a diced carrot. It was a perfect late lunch on a very grey Sunday
This is a great, easy soup. I added some extra broth to stretch it a bit, and forgot to put on the pepper jack cheese I bought purposely for this. Senior moment! :) , but soup was great without it. I also added some diced carrots that needed using. This is a good base for add-ins. Maybe some garbanzos. Made for Spring 2008 PAC.
