    Directions:

      Heat olive oil in a large pot.

      Add chopped onion, 1 tsp salt & the pepper.

      Saute' onion until soft.

      Add tomatoes & 1 teaspoons salt.

      Stir well.

      Lower heat & simmer partially covered for 45 minutes.

      Meanwhile, cook penni according to directions.

      Drain well.

      Rinse in HOT water.
    10. 10
      Toss with fresh basil.

      Add sauce & stir gently.
    12. 12
      Top with fresh grated parmesean, if desired.
