This recipe was given to me by a friend - it has been her family's sauce for several generations. Use it for spaghetti, ravioli, lasagne, etc.
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup onion, chop
- 1 garlic clove, mashed
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 (12 ounce) cans tomato paste
- 2 (12 ounce) cans water
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon parsley
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon basil
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1⁄2 teaspoon pepper
- Brown beef, onion and garlic in olive oil.
- Add rest and simmer uncovered 2 hours.
- I sometimes add fresh basil at the end.
I used 1 1/2 can water and 1/2 cup can red wine instead of 2 cans water. I also added 1 can of chopped tomatoes to this. Wonderful, easy dish. thanks
This is just the right blend of spices. Yum! Thanks for sharing! I will definitely "do-over" this recipe again.
