Top of my quick bread list. I hate air breads from the store. I of course changed it a bit. I used 1/2 Whole Wheat flour and 1/2 unbleached flour. I also replace the corn oil with coconut oil to increase the health benefits. If I don't have buttermilk, which is most of the time, I use a mixture of 1/2 milk and 1/2 sour cream. I also ditch the raisans most of the time and never do the caraway seeds. I don't bother with brushing the top with milk I do this with coconut oil after it is baked to keep the top soft. My kids like it better that way. I also double it more than not. These are all minor changes to the basic recipe.

This bread was SO good. I brought it to a St's Pat's dinner party and it was a huge hit. I substituted poppy seeds for caraway b/c the grocery store didn't have any caraway seeds. Not purist but still delish. Quick and easy too.

Delicious. Simple recipe. Came out perfectly. I am an Irish girl and I have had many different soda breads in my life. This one is staying in my cookbook. Everyone at the lunch party I brought it to devoured it. There was one piece left at the end of the day and there was a debate about who got to take it home. Thanks!

This was awesome!! Best soda bread I've ever had! My husband loved it. Wasn't sure about the caraway seeds, but it gave it an interesting element. Thanks

This was really good. I had to leave out the raisins and caraway seeds since I didn't have any. My kids and husband gobbled the bread up with butter and honey on top, they could hardly wait for it to cool down.

This was pretty good soda bread. Dense and heavy, makes a nice loaf. Used leftovers to make Bailey's Bread pudding and it was delicious! Thanks for posting.

I love this bread. It is so easy. I followed the recipe, but omitted the caraway seeds. I checked the center with a toothpick after 40 minutes, but it was still gooey, so I baked it for another 10 minutes or so. I think it's delicous. I will make this again. Thank you.

Delicious! I doubled the recipe and since I didn't have buttermilk on hand, I just made a substitute with Recipe #74359 and it worked out beautifully. Made two loaves of wonderful delicious soda bread. We'll have one just for snacking on and one for dinner tomorrow with our Corned Beef and Colcannon. Thanks for sharing!

This was really good. My kids loved it! We saved it to have after our corned beef and cabbage for St Patrick's Day this year. Made a yummy dessert and will be great for breakfast tomorrow! Have to eat it up before it goes stale on us. YUM! And I omitted the Caraway seeds

I made this for our St. Patrick's day corned beef dinner. I've had soda bread before, but not with eggs, raisins and caraway seeds. It was wonderful. My family loved it and I had to leave the loaf for my mom to have with her tea later. And, it was easy to make. I highly recommend it. Thanks.

Pretty easy to make, and delicious outcome! I've never made or eaten Irish soda bread before, and this recipe was a bit of an adventure for me. I made it for a St. Patty's Day program in my dorm (I'm an RA), and all the girls loved it!

This has got to be one of the best soda bread recipes I have ever made. When you are married to an Irish man, you need to know how to make soda bread.....this one is it.

Excellent soda bread. I just don't do raisins and added a bit more flour, but otherwise followed the recipe. Baked right at 40 minutes and it was perfect. Thanks for posting!

Very good but I should have baked it a full hour - our have a little doughy in the middle, however that didn't stop my family from eating this delicious bread. The only change I made was using regular raisins and a bit less caraway seeds. Thanks for sharing!

This is the first time i have made soda bread and I have to say this was excellent. My very picky DH said "this is a keeper" "MMMMM". I am making a second loaf now for my SIL because it is her birthday. It is good enough to give as a gift :-) I think the only thing I changed was I used 6 oz of dried cranberries instead of the raisins.

my first time making irish soda bread. delicious. had it along with corned beef for st. patricks day. i did slim this recipe down as i typically do. substituted splenda for the sugar and applesauce for the oil. used eggbeaters and powdered buttermilk with water. this cut out at least 1/2 the calories and the taste was phenomenal. thanks for a great recipe!
