Oh the onions make it! I cut back on the butter (substantially -- gotta watch my fats), but I didn't miss it one bit with the sweet rutabagas. Why does something that look so bad taste so good? Excellent side dish, I'll do it again and again. Bergy, perfect!
this is great!!! The little kids picked out the onions,( but they didn't go to waste)Will fix this for a Holiday side dish
tried them for an easter dinner ... excellent! very easy to make and the flavor is great. i think this will be a regular for holiday meals in my house
I'm one of these odd guys who does like rutabagas!! This was really good. A nice change from the traditional turnip and carrot dish. Next time I'll add even more onions. Thanks again Bergy.
Used swedes instead. I grew them for the first time, not even knowing if I liked them, then looked for recipes to use them up. Loved this one - will definitely use it again. Onions add a lovely flavour and I did use the stated quantity of butter. Can't wait for next season to grow some more.
I used half rutabagas and half potatoes. I really like the caramelized onions in this. I might add some garlic next time.
Bergy, these were excellent!!!!!!!!!! I didn't use quite as much butter but my DH said delicious! Thanks for great recipe.
My family HATES turnips. But they just LOVE "mashed potatos with carmelized onions" HAHAHA. Thanks Bergy
I've always enjoyed rutabaga, this is so easy and tasty and for the first time my wife ate this vegetable dish. Thanks for a great culinary side dish on the lowly rutabaga.DELICIOUS!
Bergy, you really know how to make good food better! This was so good that I passed it off as new flavored mashed potatoes to some little ones...as long as they didn't know what it was, they ate it! I know it's cruel, but... I also lightened up on the butter, the caramelized onions pick up most of the flavor. Wonderful!
