One of my hubby's favorite drinks. I got this recipe from the PA liquor control board.
- 1 1⁄2 ounces Irish whiskey
- 6 ounces Mountain Dew soda, code red
- Stir Code Red and whiskey in a collins glass filled with ice cubes.
I'm rating this without stars because the regular Mountain dew was very hard to find here in the Netherlands, and the place where I got it didn't have Code Red at all. Since I used regular MD and not Code Red to make this it's not fair to rate the recipe because I'm told that they taste completely different. I have now tried MD for the first time and can't say I liked it much, DH tried it with with Tullimore Dew whisky and liked the whisky part more than the MD. One day we will try this with Code Red and rate it properly, but I mainly wanted to comment that if you already like MD, then you probably will like this and if you don't then you probably won't. Still, according to DH, anything with whisky in it is worth a try ... so he was pleased to have given it a go. Thanks for giving us a new taste to try!
I haven't made this particular combination because I don't like the Code Red version of Mountain Dew - but I LOVE the combination of regular Mountain Dew and Jack Daniels, so if you like the red version, you'll probably enjoy this cocktail!
This is a very interesting drink. Since code red is one of my all time favorite sodas I knew this was going to be a hit for me. It was bit too strong for me, but still very good!
