What a fund St Patrick's day soup! Very hearty, very flavorful and full of good-for-you veggies too! Serving amount is way off, I'd say at least serves 8 - we ate 4 bowls and I have a medium tupperware bowl full to the brim for lunches. I ran to the end of my milk so had to sub additional water in its place, the soup was still very creamy and had plenty of flavor. Oh, I also added 1c cubed reduced fat velveeta in place of the cheddar.

My Dh and I really liked this. I did make a few changes. I cooked the onions with the sausage and garlic. I also used chicken broth instead of just water. I think next time I make this I will adjust the cooking times a bit because my potatoes were just mush by the time the rest was done. I also added salt and pepper. I loved the silky texture of the soup and it tasted like it had a lot more cheese in it. Very yummy.

This was pretty good. Cheap and easy. I think that if I do this again I am going to use chicken broth and possibly brown the onions. I found it kind of bland.

absolutely wonderful! I did do some amount adjustments and added in a heaping tablespoonful of crushed chili flakes and used chicken broth in place of water, seasoned with seasoned slat and lots of fresh ground black pepper, this was made for KK's Chef's Pick forum game, thank you Sherri

Also used 2 cups 1/2 & 1/2 and 1 cup heavy cream ( bad girl!) but i have tons leftover from the holidays and i needed to use it. Just finished the last bowl today for lunch. Would def make again! thanks.

It snowed here yesterday and this was just the thing for Supper last night. Didn't have any Kielbasa SO, I threw in a pound of Jimmy Deans hot Breakfast sausage. WOW, thanks for a simple and pleasing recipe. Will use it often.

Mmmmmmm good! I made this as written and then decided to add some dumplings at the end. I loved everything about this chowder...the kielbasa, the potatoes and the cabbage made for a delicious and satisfying meal. I did enjoy the addition of the dumplings. Perfect for a cold winter evening. Made for December 2009 Photo Tag.
