Irene's Cocktail Meatballs

I have made these cocktail meatballs during the holidays for many years. They are always a favorite. I usually make these early in the day and keep them on low in my slow cooked until needed. This gives the flavors a chance to blend and it's one of those dishes you can prepare well ahead of company arriving! The cook time and yield numbers given below are variable depending on whether you make them ahead and keep them in the slow cooker and how large you make the meatballs.

  1. Mix first five ingredients as you would for meatloaf and form into 1 inch meatballs. Brown in oil, lower heat and continue cooking until done all the way through.
  2. Mix last four ingredients and heat in a saucepan until jelly is melted.
  3. Place in a slow cooker and keep hot until serving.
