Very good. I toasted the buns, added a pinch or two of dried red chili (Southern California Palate!) and a splash of sherry. Wine brightens the taste. Served it with fat free potato chips and a green salad. Great light din din.

These were very good. I served them with swiss cheese and the guys loved them - DH ate four of them! Great flavor.

I love Maidrites! We have a Maidrite place up in Northern Mn by Gull Lake. I always get mine with cheese. This recipe is also good on top of mashed potatoes. Yum. Thanks for posting!

Whatever these are supposed to taste like, I don't know because I'm not from Iowa. What I do know is THEY ARE FANTASTIC! Fantastic and simple. My husband loves them; they are great for football season. For what it's worth, I originally made these for an Iowa Primary Watch Party all the way in FL. :] Thanks!

These taste a bit how I remember White Castle Hamburgers. I topped mine with pickle, catsup and mustard. Yummo! Quick and easy!

These are nothing like the Maid-Rites I grew up with in my hometown in Ohio where the Maid-Rite restaurant opened in the 1940's. I had always heard rumors that the ground beef was steamed in beer. These were too oniony tasting, in my opinion.

I'm an Iowa gal and one year there was a "maidrite" contest in the newspaper. The original Maidrite recipe is a secret but cooks everywhere sent in their versions of the recipe. I kept the best of those recipes but your version is completely different and very, very tasty. I did add 1/4 cup of Cream Sherry and only used 1 packet of Lipton Onion Soup Mix. I plan on serving this yummy recipe many times. Thanks, Janet Cristo!

These were great!! Super easy to throw together w/ a wonderful flavor! I cut the meat to 2 lbs & only used 1 pkg onion soup mix. I thought 40 minutes was enough simmer time. These were served on wheat buns.

Because I made my own onion soup, I can't rate it with stars, but it was a tasty and easy supper, which is what I had to have tonight. I have added it to my quickie file.;)
