I made this last night to go with Cheesy Ham and Potato Soup (Recipe 262140) and it is the best cheese garlic bread I've ever had. Used 1 cup of butter and it made enough for entire french bread loaf from the grocery store.
Great with our Zucchini Lasagna!

My family loved this recipe. I was a little puzzled by the cheddar cheese (because I thought mozzarella would be the perfect mix) but it worked out beautifully! We used an store bought italian bread sliced fairly then. The top had a wonderful color and the bottom was perfectly toasted. I did leave it in for maybe 2 extra minutes to get that effect. Couldn't ask for a more tasty recipe!
The best gatlic bread you will ever make. I have made this several times for company and it gets raves. The kind of garlic bread you want when you are craving good, garlicky, cheesey bread!
I made this the other night, then ended up making it again the next night because my kids requested it, The only change I made was used fresh chopped garlic and eliminated the garlic powder. Super easy, super good. I think I will make it up without the grated cheese and take it with me to the lake this summer to have on garlic bread with steak, just add the cheese when I am ready to use it. Thanks for a great recipe.
The spread itself is awesome and yummy. The only problem that I had was with the cooking time. My rolls started to burn after 5 mins. but the tops were not quite brown enough. So I tried it again and cooked for 3 mins then broiled the top for a min. It turned out much better.
