A wonderful treat, especially on a hot day. I keep a tray of coffee ice cubes in my freezer during the summer so that I can always whip up a batch of these drinks. This uses skim milk & fat-free chocolate syrup, so it's not only cheaper, but also lower calorie than the iced coffee sold at most coffee shops. I have used both brewed and instant coffee and it works well with either kind. (Prep time given is for freezing the coffee ice cubes, cook time is for actually making the drink.)

Directions

  1. Freeze coffee into cubes. (I like to keep an ice cube tray filled with leftover coffee in my freezer just for this purpose.).
  2. Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
  3. Pour into glasses and enjoy!

Oh YUM. I love that I don't have to go to Tim Horton's anymore for these! Instead of adding the sugar into the blender, I dissolved it into the coffee before freezing into cubes. Chocolate Syrup worked well for this. Now I just need to make sure to keep some straws in the house! **UPDATE** ... I have been dissolving the sugar AND chocolate syrup into the coffee before freezing into cubes. This works really well and is super easy to whip together at a moment's notice.

I like this idea of making ice cubes of the coffee, plus the sugar and chocolate syrup as suggested by a reviewer. Makes really good iced mocha.

MMM! This was very good, my only complaint was that it used a LOT of milk. I am going to play with it and see if I can cut it down a bit. I have read reviews that disliked the "frothy" texture, but here's a tip - after blending, let it sit a while. The air bubbles *pop* and it's nice and smooth. This recipe is well-suited for keeping in the fridge. Thanks!
