This is truly a recipe that I wish I could give 10 stars!! It was a fun thing to make with my kids, plus they taste just like the real thing (only better, of course!). I was a little afraid that the paper cup wouldn't peel off very well, but no problem there! It just peels right off. I spooned the ice cream into the cones using a small spoon so that I could put ice cream all the way into the bottom of the cone. For the nuts I used honey roasted peanuts. Thanks for posting this awesome recipe that I'm sure to use over and over!

These were excellent! They tasted exactly like the Drumstick ice cones. They'd be great to make for a cook out because you would have the ice cream cones already assembled and then all you'd need to do is bring them out on a platter to serve. I recommend doubling up on the chocolate chips and shortening part and then before adding the nuts to it, brush some chocolate on the inside of each cone. Put them in the refrigerator to set up for a few minutes before filling with ice cream. I used cocktail peanuts that I chopped in the food processor. Thanks, Laurie, for a fun copycat recipe.

These really do taste just like the ones you buy. My eight year old and I made these together. I made these as posted but did not measure the chocolate when I put itinto the cup. I would recommend not using too much chocoalte as you had to be careful the top did not fall off when peeling off the cup. No one complained mind you. Thanks for such a popular treat in my house.

My boys were ecstatic over these! I must admit my ego is quite inflated over them saying 'Your the best MOM EVER!' I didn't realize how hard it would be finding the basic sugar cone. 2 stores I went to only had waffle cones, which I knew are too large and wimpy to fit in the 5 oz. cups. I was very pleased that the 3rd store in my list had the correct ones.

What a fun treat to make for our 4th dessert! My five year old helped a little making them, but was much more interested in the eating. Thanks for the posting. I will definitely make this again!

What a wonderful idea! Great for kids parties since it is much cheaper and better to make your own! Thanks for sharing!
