- 2 cups cornmeal
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 tablespoons flour
- 1 egg
- 1⁄2 onion, finely minced
- oil (for deep frying)
- milk (if needed)
- Preheat oil to 350F in a large skillet or deep fryer.
- Mix remaining ingredients to make a stiff batter - adding milk as needed.
- Use small scoop or tablespoon to scoop individual amounts and drop into hot oil.
- Cook until golden brown - drain on paper towel.
