From The Recipe Hall of Fame Cookbook II. Notes from recipe: This can be refrigerated overnight or popped in the oven. For a delicious one-dish meal, increase beef to 2 lbs.
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 medium onions
- 1⁄4 cup butter
- 3 (15 ounce) canscans ranch style beans
- 2 (16 ounce) cans pork and beans
- 1⁄4 cup prepared mustard
- 1⁄4 cup maple syrup
- 1⁄2 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup catsup
- Brown beef and onions in margarine and combine with remaining ingredients.
- Bake at 300 for 1 and 1/2 hours.
I made this recipe for Christmas and nobody called it baked beans. Everyone thought it was chili and it does indeed taste like chili. Now I make it and add elbow pasta and a scoop of sour cream and I just won a chili cook off for presentation and taste. I don't like it as baked beans but my family loves it as chili!
