- 56.69 g olive oil
- 907.18 g onions, medium (diced)
- 59.16 ml Hungarian paprika
- 29.58 ml garlic (chopped)
- 2.46 ml caraway seed
- salt (to taste)
- 2.46 ml pepper
- 297.66 g can consomme, plus enough water to make 1 qt. (or 1 qt. beef broth)
- 113.39 g tomato paste
- 2267.96 g beef stew meat, cut in 1-inch cubes
- 2.46-4.92 ml cayenne pepper (optional)
directions
- Sauté the onions in the oil, browning lightly.
- Add the paprika, garlic, caraway seeds, salt and pepper; mix well.
- Add the consomme and tomato paste and water (or beef broth).
- Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.
- Add the meat and continue simmering until the meat is very tender,.
- approximately 1 1/2 hours.
- Adjust the seasonings and serve.
