Hummus With Chipotles & a Hint of Orange

I kicked up my Hummus Rich, Smooth, & Healthy hummus by adding chipotle in adobo sauce and refreshing orange juice and zest! Serve with toasted pitas. Use as a spread in wraps. Spread on toasted rye topped with ripe tomatoes. Also add diced roasted red peppers if you like.

Ingredients Nutrition

  1. Place all the dip ingredients in a food processor except for zest.
  2. Process until smooth.
  3. Pour additional olive oil into feed tube over the garbanzo bean mixture to make a smooth mixture if needed.
  4. Taste then add zest if more orange flavor is desired.
  5. Transfer mixture to a serving bowl.
  6. Drizzle with olive oil.
  7. Sprinkle with paprika and parsley or cilantro.

I really liked this hummus, and used four garlic cloves because the head was almost finished and they were all pretty small in comparison to some of the other cloves. I thought the orange was a nice touch and added a bit of sweetness to the heat of the chili. I think, though, a bit less orange flavour would be better, although it was a nice change for me.

This hummus was a bit sweet. I guess I prefer a more traditional hummus. I didn't have any lemons, so I was still glad to find this recipe.
