Hot Ham and Swiss Cheese Sandwiches

My mom made thse a lot when we were kids. They make a large batch and freeze well.

  1. Melt together butter, mustard, Worcestershire sauce and onion in small saucepan over low heat.
  2. Spread sauce on rolls.
  3. Layer ham and cheese on rolls.
  4. Wrap rolls in metal foil.
  5. Bake at 400°F for 15-20 minutes or until cheese melts.
  6. Can be baked from frozen state by increasing baking time to 45 minutes.

I needed something quick because my son's hockey season starts tonight! These sandwiches were quite yummy and they took very little time to prepare. I served them with some deli-style dill pickles and jumbo stuffed olives on the side. I will be making this again. Thx!

What a great lunch! I really love ham and cheese, and these fit the bill. The sauce is great, tangy and smooth at the same time.I used a dijon mustard, and I would definitely use the same next time. I cooked mine in the toaster oven for 15 minutes, which gave me a nice melted cheese on the inside, and a bun that was toasty without being overly hard and crunchy. I think that next time I would put some garlic and horseradish in the sauce, and I'd love to try these with roast beef and cheddar as well. Thanks for posting a great recipe!
