My mother made something like this when I was a kid, so it's comfort food for me. Sweet but delicious. I think it's better without the whipped topping. It's also good cold. Prep time is no more than 10-15 minutes. Bob Keslow

A chocolate lover's dream!!! This was delicious! I followed your directions exactly and wouldn't change a thing. I severed it over vanilla ice cream! What a treat! Thanks for sharing!

Yummy! This is the perfect treat for a cold day (or any day, for that matter) :) The "fudge sauce" tastes like warm chocolate pudding. Soooooo good! The "cake" part is very good, too. I made this as a treat for my picky SO and he LOVED it. Sweet, but not "overly sweet". Perfect! We had ours "as is" with no additional topping. I'm sure it'd also be great with whipped cream or ice cream. A keeper in this house! Thank you sharing this recipe :) (Re-doing my review since my first one didn't show up in its entirety.)

AWESOME!!!! Jen, this is such a great comfort food treat -- rich, delicious and so easy! Our family all just gobbled it down. I hate for the New Year to come so I have to go back on low-carbs, lol. Thanks for sharing your grandma's recipe.
