Oh Harry Potter-- what would we do without you? This is a wonderful drink to sip on during a cold winter's day or to help set the mood when you settle down to read and re-read your favorite Harry Potter book. Recipe found online at a Harry Potter fansite. Serving size can easily be scaled up or down.
- 2 1⁄4 cups milk
- 1⁄2 cup butterscotch chips
- Pour milk into a stovepan and set the burner over medium-high heat. Heat milk until steamy, not boiling.
- Add butterscotch chips and stir with a hand-mixer or froth with a wire whisk until chips are melted and mixture is frothy.
- Remove from heat and pour the butterbeer into mugs to serve.
Nice change of pace from a hot chocolate. This is super rich and sweet, so a little goes a long way :) I think maybe a touch of butter or pinch of salt would send this over the top!
Great Butterbeer! This recipe goes great with a Harry Potter movie! I looked up a few recipes before I found 2 I liked, so I sort of mixed them. This was our base, but we also added a tsp of vanilla, a tsp of butter, and about a Tbsp of cinnamon. Delicious! A little honey makes it sweeter. Thanks for a great Butterbeer base!
Lovely, but very sweet.
