Sauteed onions used for hot dogs
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 large onions, coarsely chopped (about 3 cups)
- 1⁄2 cup ketchup
- 1⁄2 cup barbecue sauce
- 1. Add olive oil to large skillet over medium heat. Saute onions until soft and translucent.
- 2. In a bowl, combine ketchup and barbecue sauce,mixing well. pour mixture into skillet,covering onions entirely.Simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. May be frozen and reheated.
This was simple to do and tasted good. Just be careful to keep the heat low so the onions don't carmelize (unless you want them to). I was looking for a copycat of Sabretts's - this is not. Still good!
