- 453.59 g hot dog
- 2 (907.18 g) can baked beans
- 118.29 ml ketchup
- 118.29 ml water
- 14.79 ml prepared mustard
- 14.79 ml Worcestershire sauce
- 177.44 ml flour
- 14.79 ml sugar
- 7.39 ml baking powder
- 4.92 ml salt
- 157.80 ml cornmeal
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 118.29 ml corn
- 157.80 ml milk
- 59.14 ml oil
- 78.78 ml onion, chopped
directions
- Cut hot dogs into 1/2-inch pieces. Put in baking dish (12x8 inches) with beans, ketchup, water, mustard and Worcestershire sauce.
- Combine flour, sugar, salt and baking powder in large bowl. Stir in cornmeal. Add egg and rest of ingredients. Stir just enough to combine.
- Spread evenly over beans. Bake at 400° for 35 to 40 minutes.

This was good! I enjoyed the cornbread topping a lot. I do think there was something missing in the filling, but I suspect it was the quality of baked beans I used rather than a problem with the recipe itself. Because I don't eat pork I used vegetarian baked beans and turkey hot dogs, and it worked out just fine. I think what I wanted in the sauce was something sweet, like karo syrup (my mom always puts it in baked beans) or brown sugar. I will definitely keep this one around; thanks for posting!

I thought this was a good recipe, I felt the cornbread was not as done as I would like but I imagine that is from the liquid in the recipe, I have had this same experience with dishes that bread is on top of. I did follow the recipe and even used store bought baked beans, I also admit they are not as good as my homemade ones. Am going to try with chili next time and see if it doesn't takes like a corn dog.
