I love these! I am finally glad to have something other than 'that mashed potatoes, cheese and hot dog thing I make'. My aunt introduced me to these probably 40 years ago and I have loved them ever since. Everyone should try them.

Quick and yummy. I had these when I was a kid, and now my grandkids love them too. Thanks for sharing. Made for Zaar Alphabet Chef Soup Tag.

I had this for the first time while in the hospital after my second child was born in 1962. I immediately knew it was a winner for the little ones. I fed it to her and all the others who came after. Now we are introducing it to the little greats who are coming along. They all love it now even after all Thanks for the memories... Gramalane

I grew up on a variation of these. We had mashed potato stuffed hot dogs but wrapped them with a strip of beef bacon instead of the cheese and broiled them until crisp. My children and husband now love these.

My mother used to make this when we were little and I loved them. The only difference is she would put them under the broiler. Wow I have to make these tonight.

What a fun recipe! I made these for lunch with two 3-year-olds. I sliced the hot dogs open, they did the rest. We just made two, and we didn't measure anything. Since they made it themselves, they gobbled it all up. Thanks for a fun idea.

My mom used to spread a bit of mustard over the potatoes before adding the cheese.

I made this recipe on 7/17/12 for the "Circus " Event in the Food Photo Forum. I did however make them a bit different, instead of cooking the dogs in the microwave they were split and pan fried in a bit of bacon grease. Then I warmed up leftovers from Real Homemade Mashed Potatoes, and placed in the center of the hot dogs. Topped with cheese and place under the broiler until the cheese was melted and a bit on the crusty side. These were served with Baked Beans,Baked Beans. I think that this is a great idea for the kiddies and the " Kiddies @ Heart. Thanks for posting and, " Keep Smiling :) "

I needed a fast and easy dinner for my 5yr old nephew that's visiting (he's soooo picky) and these got a thumbs up from him. I did do it a little differant as I really don't care for micro wave hot dogs that much. So I sliced them down the middle as directed and then fried them in a pan with just a little spray until slightly browned and hot through - then used those frozen mashed potatoes you can get now and when heated in the micro - added the cheese as directed, topped the hot dogs, then popped it all in the oven to just brown the potatoes and added more cheese on top when they came out (he really loves cheese) served with a side of fresh steamed asparagus. This was enjoyed by all - not just the little one
