My Mom used to have this ready for us to drink after we had been out playing in the snow. The ingredients below are "per serving".
- 1⁄2 tablespoon cocoa
- 1 1⁄2 tablespoons sugar (more or less to taste)
- 1 dash salt
- 1⁄4 cup water
- 3⁄4 cup milk
- Mix the first 4 ingredients in a saucepan.
- Boil for 2 minutes.
- Add the milk.
- Heat, but do not boil.
Very tasty - I left out the salt. Just as good as Nestle's if you ask my daughters and their friends!
I used a small envelop of sugar twin. And I used skim milk. I tasted it and I added another 1/2 tablespoon of cocoa and I prefered it that way. This is very easy to do and fast. Thanks Snowpeas :) Made for PAC Spring 2010
Before there was instant powder, we did it this way. The key element in this recipe is dissolving the cocoa in hot water before mixing in the milk: one of those things every cook should know how to do. It's just a little more work but it's better cocoa, too. Enjoyed three times in three days for Pick A Chef Spring 2008.
