Horchata Smoothie

"A Quick and Easy twist on Horchata (Mexican Rice Milk) and Smoothies. It makes a nice creamy drink that is perfect for breakfast or as a sweet treat poured over ice on warm day. (I shortcut this recipe by using my recipe for vanilla yogurt. Also equally yummy adjusted fat free/sugar free)"

  1. Not quite horchata, but pretty close, and easier, as well. Sipping this now. I subbed unsweetened vanilla almond milk, and ice for half the water before whipping this up in the blender. Used Splenda rather than sugar, so I saved quite a few carbs all the way round. Thanks for sharing. Going to try a dollop of sugar free chocolate syrup next time, or maybe the almond extract another reviewer mentioned. A treat that doesn't spike my glucose levels is a real treat.

  2. Okay so this looks really good. I'm gonna go make it right now and I'll tell you my reaction. (MAKES SMOOTHIE) Reaction: YUMMM!! This is really good. I only made enough for one, and there was even a ton left. It is sweet. I added vanilla yogurt instead. I think next time I will add less sugar because its very sweet. Thanks sooo much for posting, will make again. :)

  3. Yum. DD (toddler) and I enjoyed this. I used less heavy cream in place of the milk with more water, white sugar and halal vanilla paste. I would make this again.

  4. I made this in a blender and used a generous measure of ice instead of water. Yum!

  5. This is exactly what I have been looking for. I had a frozen drink from a convenience store once and have been trying to replicate the flavor ever since. Trying to make this healthier, I now use skim milk, fat free vanilla yogurt, and mostly splenda or truvia with just a tablespoon of sugar. Still tastes excellent! After mixing, I freeze it for a few hours then break up and stir with a wisk. Perfect milkshake substitute for my sweet cravings. All of my friends love it too and had no idea it was healthy. Love it!
