Disappointing. I followed the instructions to the letter and the bread was essentially flavorless. It was good for soaking up extra fluids in a soup and was a suitable "shovel" for excess gravy on the plate, but other than that it was bland.
Delicious! Over three days, I made three loaves - YES, it's THAT GOOD! Everyone loved it, including the kids! Hubby is making another loaf as I type! We read all of the reviews and played around a bit with some of the suggestions. We've perfected it for us by adding the extra yeast and a tsp of vanilla. My daughter likes to sprinkle extra oats on the top just before it bakes. We use the basic setting with light crust and remove it from the machine as soon as the baking cycle completes. After letting it cool a bit, we place it in a plastic bag and the moisture keeps the bottom crust from getting too hard. Excellent recipe - thank you for sharing!
Chewy & delicious. Will be making this often.
The flavor of this bread was great but it seemed to dry out quick and be very crumbly and hard to cut.
This bread is so easy and so good. I love that all the ingredients I already have in my pantry.
i really enjoyed the bread worked well im my bm and it was sweet enought
I made this in the breadmaker, putting it in before bed with the delay feature. It was really good for breakfast the next morning. I also made it once, doing the dough in the breadmaker, but then baking in the oven. It made a very large loaf. I increased the yeast to 1 1/2 tsp both times.
A wonderful loaf; was just sweet enough and had body without being heavy. I had to increase the water to 1 1/2 cups, added 1 tablespoon gluten and used 1 tablespoon of regular yeast. I also set my machine for a 1.5 pound loaf on the whole wheat setting.. Thanks for the suggestion of putting it into a plastic bag for cooling. It made slicing with an electric knife a breeze and the slices were perfect for both toast and sandwiches. We will definitely make this one again.
Awesome bread! Very sweet and soft, thanks so much for sharing!
Good bread with a nice, sweet flavour from the honey. I am just getting used to using a bread machine, and I found this recipe makes a smaller loaf (maybe 1.5 lb?). Used WW bread flour and white AP flour (my bread machine says that in Canada we can use regular AP flour instead of bread flour because ours has more gluten). I also used quick oats as thats what I had on had.
