  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). In a small bowl, combine cornmeal and milk; let stand for 5 minutes. Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Mix in the cornmeal mixture, eggs and oil until smooth. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  3. Bake in preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a knife inserted into the center of the cornbread comes out clean.

This is a really good cornbread! I also cut in half, which is really easy to do with this recipe. Loved the sweeter taste!

I cut the recipe in half since it makes a large pan and used my mini loaf pan to get 7 mini loafs. Very nice cornbread that is sweet and "plain" that wonderfully balanced a meal that was spicy. Keeper for this family and I love how easily it does cut in half . Made for Photo Tag Jan 2009

This is a simple great tasting cornbread! It is on the sweeter side so those of you who don't like it sweet...this recipe isn't for you. If you do like it slightly's perfect!
