This is not a finished sauce and therefore should not be used as your final spaghetti sauce. It is only a BASIC tomato sauce used in recipes.
- 4 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 whole garlic cloves
- 3⁄4 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 (28 ounce) cans tomatoes (Italian peeled)
- 10 fresh basil leaves
- Put oil in pot and saute garlic and onions for about 5 minutes. Reduce heat and simmer until onions are soft.
- Puree the tomatoes in a blender. Add the tomato puree to the onions. Boil 5 minutes. Reduce heat, add basil, and simmer 25 minutes.
