I love to make some for friends and include the beauty recipe with it so they can make their own too.

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 1 cup of unscented shampoo
  • 12 cup water
  • 1 12 tablespoons salt
  • 12 -15 drops fragrance oil (I like to add vanilla extract.)
  • food coloring (optional)

  1. Mix the shampoo and water together first then add the salt and fragrance.
  2. I usually only add the food coloring if I am giving this as a gift.

You can easily make this gel thicker by adding powdered pectin. Add a tablespoon or so, mix well, and let sit for a couple of hours. I make mine in an old dishwashing liquid bottle, dispense a small amount into a pretty squeeze bottle for the shower, and store the rest in the refrigerator.

It was really too thin. It looked like it was going to set as a gel, but when we added the fragrance oil it got really thin really quickly. We'll keep trying but the first results were disappionting.

I made this with the store brand baby Hair and Body Wash, so it is very gentle. I also added lime essential oil, since it has antibacterial properties and smells awesome! It'll wake you up in the morning! This gel is as rich as the stuff you would get in a high end store but alot cheaper and I think even better because of the "no tears" baby wash!!! I use this for all my hand washing soap, too. I don't have to worry about the kids eyes or skin either! Best of all I just mix it up in the pump bottle it came in, so I don't have to search around for a pump bottle! Awesome idea, JustaQT! Keep 'em coming!!!
