1. There once was a chef named Inez
Who made great pizza sauce, no less.
She shared it with Miller
Who said “This is killer!
In fact, it is simply the best!”
2. A "tangy" pizza sauce. I cheated and added chopped tinned tomatoes. Also added a tablespoon of brown sugar to mellow the taste. A nice thick sauce, I am tired of those runny sauces. Had to stir frequently to avoid "burning", but it was worth it. Will definitately make again and might try adding some basil pesto.

 3. Since the "fresh" tomatoes are expensive & not that good in December in Canada, I used my own canned tomatoes from last summer's garden - just drained off the excess juice. The result was a terrific sauce for home made pizza!

 4. I absolutely loved this sauce! It was very thick and those chunks of onion and tomato...oh yum. What better way to use those home-grown tomatoes we've all got lying around right now? :D No more of that canned/jarred junk for me. Thanks!

 5. Just one thing--after trying this pizza sauce, I will NEVER EVER purchase a store-bought brand again. It was easy and mighty tasty. Rave reviews from my husband. Thanks Inez!

Tweaks

 1. I doubled the basil and oregano and added 2 tablespoons brown sugar.

 2. I added a pinch or two of fennel and cayenne pepper. Also, roughly chopped the onion and tomatoes (it took two Roma’s to make one cup). After it simmered, into my 1970s blender it went! A few whirrrs later and it was ready!

 3. Doubled oregano and basil using fresh

 4. Added 1 tsp sugar and 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper

 5. Excellent sauce! Bursting with flavor, even though I used Italian seasoning instead of oregano & basil. Really tasty used as dipping sauce for breadsticks made from #35805 Easy Peezy Pizza Dough. Thanks, MizzNezz!

After DH and I moved away from the farm, and to the city...I haven't done as much cooking and very little canning. But I do come to Zaar and look for new recipes once in a while. I'm still cooking Zaar!! I like to play at Facebook, with my family and friends. A lot of my Zaar friends are there!! Yay! It's a good way to keep in touch. We travel more. We're looking at the European trips now. Hope to go in the springtime. I really want to see London, I think I lived there in a past life, I've been obsessed with it since I was 10 years old!!
