Questions & Replies

  1. I'm guessing this makes a quart, though I don't see it stated anywhere. Only found one website so far that tells me how much there recipe makes. 8 servings doesn't mean a lot to me - what's a serving anyway. I have a 4 qt ice cream maker, and a greedy for homemade ice cream family. If I make 1 quart, well I did make 1 quart before and got chewed out and there was near bickering for the ice cream.

  2. Can you use this base for any flavor ice cream? I wanted to make peach or strawberry, etc. Thank you. The mint chocolate chip turned out AMAZING, but I did use heavy cream and half and half, no milk.

  3. Does this really need the sugar?? Want to eliminate it entirely.

  4. How could you tweak this to make other flavors? This turned out the best ever after trying many, mamy recipes over the years!

Reviews

  1. This was a hit! Used Splenda and stevia glycerite (12 packets + 2 tsp respectively). Also used crushed Oreos in place of the chocolate chips. Really tasty!

  2. So good! I added a splash more peppermint as I like strong mint flavor and used chopped up regular chocolate chips.

  3. This recipe was delicious. However, if you put crushed Oreos in there instead of chocolate chips, delicious. Try it!

  4. This is an awesome recipe! It came out perfect, considering this was the second time ever making ice cream!

  2. We doubled the recipe, and it made a perfect 4qrt! Without doubling, it's about a one to two quarts.
