Homemade Loaf Meal for Dogs

Ingredients:

• 1 cup barley
• 2 ½ cups water
• 2 lbs lean ground meat (chicken, turkey, beef, etc.)
• ½ cup cottage cheese
• 2 whole eggs
• ½ cup rolled oat , raw
• ¼ cup wheat germ
• ½ cup spinach , finely chopped. Can also use Zucchini

Directions:

1. Combine barley and water in a medium sauce pan.
2. Heat just until boiling. Stir barley, cover and reduce heat. Simmer for 20-30 minutes or until most of the liquid is absorbed.
3. Remove from heat. Stir. Set aside to cool.
4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
5. In a large bowl combine meat, cottage cheese, eggs, oats, wheat germ, veggies and cooled barley. Mix well.
6. Place mixture in loaf pan. Bake at 350 for 1 hour or until done.
7. Cool completely. Package into meal-size portions. Freeze or refrigerate.
