I found this recipe years ago in a newspaper. It's a great substitute for the real thing. In fact, I prefer it, because it's sweeter. This is great with scones and a little jam or preserves on top. Perfect for afternoon teas or brunches.
- In small bowl, use your electric mixer to beat the cream cheese until fluffy.
- Beat in the sour cream and confectioners sugar until well mixed.
- Spoon into serving bowl and chill until serving time.
I thought this went well with my lemon blueberry scones!
I've never tasted real Devonshire Cream so can't compare that - but made this to serve on top of Lemon-ginger scones and Easy Lemon Curd and it was awesome. This made a great topping and seat of the lemon flavor wonderful. I didn't change a thing in the recipe and it was rated 5 stars be all that tried it.
A rich and creamy made to top off ,y favorite Lemon Scones. Granddaughter Carly slathered it on her blueberry bagel and was quite a happy camper too. Made for My Baby Girl Cindy, Spring Pick-A-Chef.
